An Implementation of Multi-Dimensional Maximally Stable Extremal Regions
نویسنده
چکیده
We describe an implementation of the Maximally Stable Extremal Region ([3], Sect. 2, MSER) feature detector and an immediate multi-dimensional generalization ([1], Sect. 2). We propose an algorithm (Sect. 3) that is essentially uniontree with path-compression and union-by-rank (see for instance [4]). However we do not use the N-tree graph of [4] as for the purpose of fitting ellipses to the MSERs a much simpler data structure turns out to be sufficient (Sect. 3.4). Finally we describe a few experiments where 3-D MSERs are used to track regions in video sequences (Sect. 4). This is different from [2] as we do not extract regions from each frame independently, but directly a 3-D region from the stacking of such frames. 1The implementation can be downloaded at http://vision.ucla.edu/∼vedaldi/code/ mser/mser.html

A Novel Image Structural Similarity Index Considering Image Content Detectability Using Maximally Stable Extremal Region Descriptor
The image content detectability and image structure preservation are closely related concepts with undeniable role in image quality assessment. However, the most attention of image quality studies has been paid to image structure evaluation, few of them focused on image content detectability. Examining the image structure was firstly introduced and assessed in Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) measu...
متن کاملText Localization Based on Fast Feature Pyramids and Multi-Resolution Maximally Stable Extremal Regions
Text localization from scene images is a challenging task that finds application in many areas. In this work, we propose a novel hybrid text localization approach that exploits Multi-resolution Maximally Stable Extremal Regions to discard false-positive detections from the text confidence maps generated by a Fast Feature Pyramid based sliding window classifier. The use of a multi-scale approach...
متن کاملCorrespondence Regions and Structured Images
Finding correspondence regions between images is fundamental to recovering three dimensional information from multiple frames of the same scene and content based image retrieval. To be good, correspondence regions should be easily found, richly characterised and have a good trade-off between density and uniqueness. Maximally stable extremal regions (MSER’s) are amongst the best known methods to...
متن کاملDetection and Recognition of Multi-language Traffic Sign Context by Intelligent Driver Assistance Systems
Design of a new intelligent driver assistance system based on traffic sign detection with Persian context is concerned in this paper. The primary aim of this system is to increase the precision of drivers in choosing their path with regard to traffic signs. To achieve this goal, a new framework that implements fuzzy logic was used to detect traffic signs in videos captured along a highway f...
متن کاملRobust Wide Baseline Stereo from Maximally Stable Extremal Regions
The wide-baseline stereo problem, i.e. the problem of establishing correspondences between a pair of images taken from different viewpoints is studied. A new set of image elements that are put into correspondence, the so called extremal regions, is introduced. Extremal regions possess highly desirable properties: the set is closed under 1. continuous (and thus projective) transformation of imag...
